Melvin Jackson WALKER Sr was born on 19 Apr 1931 in McRae, Telfair County, Georgia as the second child of Charlie "Paul" Walker and Annie Mae Towns.

He had seven siblings, namely: Charlie "Osborne", Vivian "Elouise", Rev James "Ernest", Ernestine, Living, Living, and Living.
