Biography

It is believed that Thomas[1][2][3][4] was born in England and migrated to Massachusetts as a young man (by or before 1650)[5].

Thomas Walker married Mary Stone in 1662 in Boston, where they had their first child Mary. Within two years, Thomas and Mary settled in Sudbury, Massachusetts where the births of their last nine children are recorded[6][7].

  1. Mary Walker, b. 9 August 1661; m. James Sherman.
  2. Thomas Walker, b. 22 May 1664; m. Martha Howe.
  3. William, b. 22 July 1666; m. Sarah Goodenow.
  4. Hannah, b. 26 November 1668; d. 14 December 1668.
  5. Hannah Walker, b. 10 January 1669/70; m. David Rice.
  6. Daniel, b. 2 November 1672; d. 8 November 1672.
  7. Daniel, b. 10 February 1673/74; m. Dorothy Manning.
  8. Sarah, b. 25 July 1677; d. bef. 14 August 1697.
  9. Abigail, b. 29 October 1679; m. John Stevens.
  10. Elizabeth, b. 4 March 1680/81; d. bef. 14 August 1697.

Thomas Walker may have been a teacher, as he was encouraged by a gift of land in Sudbury to keep a free school. By 1672, he renewed his license as a tavern keeper, also in Sudbury.

In 1675, Thomas Walker received a legacy from his mother, widow Hannah Walker of London, England[8]. In her Last Will (1675) she refers to Thomas as a Merchant.

Thomas Walker passed away in 1697[9]

Slaves

  • Sambo (named in his will in a bequest to his wife Mary,[10] who granted Sambo his freedom).[11]

I do not think that Thomas of Sudbury was the son of Thomas and Ann of Boston.

Thomas the son of Thomas of Boston was a brickburner like his father (https://hdl.handle.net/2027/mdp.39015027887085?urlappend=%3Bseq=50%3Bownerid=13510798882547460-54) and d. 17 February 1726/[27], aged 88 (https://archive.org/details/newenglandhisto65unkngoog/page/n328/mode/2up). Thomas Walker + Mary Stone settled in Sudbury.

Thomas Walker and Susanna Collins is a different couple entirely (different Thomas from other parents). The child Elizabeth Collins (b. Boston) belongs to them. The other children listed here (except Mary) were born in Sudbury and belong to the Thomas Walker/Mary Stone couple.

Can you take the lead in repairing this?
