Robert was born about 1797.

1841 Census

At the 1841 census, Robert (40) was living with his wife Jean (45) on North Street in Airdrie. His occupation is given as "Iron M". Also living with them were their children: Janet (18), Robert (14), William (11), Peter (8), and Jonathan (3). Also in the household were Robert Dunean [?] (20) and John Dunean [?] (18), both "Iron M". All occupants were born in Lanarkshire.[1] [NOTE: Ages of adults were rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5 in the 1841 census.]
