Biography

Jane (Walker) Lanceley was born in Cheshire, England.

Jane was born in 1813. She married John Lanceley in 1835 in Cheshire England. They immigrated to Canada with their family in 1854, settling in Northumberland County.

By 1881, Jane and her husband were living with their daughter Elizabeth and her husband, George Mitchell, who was a prominent farmer and future Reeve of Hamilton Township.^[1] Her husband died in April 1881 and Jane died in 1890 in Wentworth County. She was probably living with one of her daughters at that time. The death certificate isn't any help but both Anna McIlwraith and Ann Lydiatt were living in that area at the time.
