Nathan James Walker, son of George Bryan Walker [1]was born 28 Oct 1824 in Browningsville, Montgomery Co., MD,

Education

Nathan J. Walker received his education in the public schools of Montgomery county, Maryland and gained his early knowledge of agriculture on his fathers farm. [1]

Church

Mr. Walker was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and later the M.E. Church South. One of the beautiful stained glass windows of Grace Methodist Church was presented by Nathan J. Walker and commemorates his service there[1]

1848 Marriage

He married Eveline King 27 Jul 1848, daughter of John King and Jemima Miles. She was born 04 Jul 1828 in Kings Valley, Montgomery Co, MD, and died 05 Jul 1899 in Gaithersburg, Md..[1]

1849 Landowner

In Nov. 1849 he purchased 190 acres of land from the Orme family and moved to Gaithersburg. he named his new home Rolling Knoll Farm. Later purchases increased his land holdings to over 450 acres. This land lay on both sides of Goshen Road and extended into the town of Gaithersburg. His home plantation is now part of Montgomery Villiage. [1]

In 1877 he built a grist mill which he operated for a number of years. [1]

Death and Burial

He died 04 May 1913.

Both George and Eveline are buried in the Forest Oak Cemetery, Gaithersburg, Maryland[1]
