Biography

Floyd Walker was one of the few children born without a middle name and was the last child fathered by Clinton Hart Walker. Clinton was married four times, the last two wives were sisters. Floyd lived with his parents at least until 1940, as evidenced by the 1940 census records. .

1910 - Kentucky, Ohio County, Fordsville, District 128, 29 Apr 1910 Sheet 11A lists the Clinton H. Walker family at the bottom of the page. The family includes Clinton H. Walker (55), his wife Mary F. (45) and children Russell (22), Ralph (15), Lora (18), Benny (13), Carson (10), Mary (8) and Lloyd (1 11/12). All report they and their parents were born in Kentucky. Clinton and Mary report they have been married for 19 years and that 6 of her 7 children are still living. Clinton reports he is a general farmer and son Russell reports he is a teacher at a school. They live on a farm and the farm is owned free and clear by Clinton. ^[1]

1920 - Kentucky, Ohio County, Fordsville, District 136, 27 Jan 1920 Sheet 9A shows Clinton H. Walker (65), his wife Fannie (54) and children Ralph (26), Carson (21), Mary (18) and Floyd (11). The family is living on a farm and the farm has no mortgage. All still report they and their parents were born in Kentucky. Clinton is a general farmer, while Carson is reportedly a laborer. Carson is the only adult family member who is shown to be unable to read or write. ^[2]

1930 - Kentucky, Ohio County, Fordsville, District 17, 19 Apr 1930 Sheet 3B shows the Clinton H. Walker family living on a farm on the Shreve and Hitesfalls Road. Clinton H. (75), wife Fannie (65) are living in the house with son Floyd (21). All report they and their parents were born in Kentucky, The farm is now shown as being rented by Clinton. Clinton reports he was 22 at his first marriage and Fannie reports she was 25. Both Clinton and Floyd are reported to be general farmers. Nearby neighbors include Bonnie Walker's family and Ottis Walker's family. ^[3]

1940 - Kentucky, Ohio County, Fordsville, Other Places, District 92-16, 2 Apr 1940 Sheet 1A lists the family shown as Clinton H. Walker (85), his wife Fannie (74) and son Floyd (30) and his wife Ada (26). The home is reported as owned and valued at $600 and the home is located on a farm. All report they were born in Kentucky and attended school through the 8th grade. They report they were all (excluding Ada) living in the same house in 1935. Ada reports she was living in rural Bath County in 1935. Floyd reports he is a farmer and no one else reports having a job. ^[4]

1969 - Indiana, Hancock County, Knightstown, 334 N. Harrison Street, 5 Dec 1969 The Indiana Death Certificate for Floyd Walker reports he was born 1 Jun 1908 and died 5 Dec 1969. His death certificate confirms he has no middle name. His parents are listed as Clinton Hart Walker and Mary Francis Obenchaine. His wife is listed as Ada Wills Walker and she is listed as the informant on the death certificate. Cause of death is listed as "probably coronary occlusion". He is buried at the Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown, Indiana.
