An Impudent Thief.

A young man named Theophilus Wall pleaded not guilty at the quarter sessions yesterday to a charge of stealing 12 finger rings, the property of David Morgan. The case for the Crown was that on September 27 last a young man entered prosecutor's shop in Cleveland-street and hurriedly left after snatching up the jewellery in question. A cry was raised and a young man started in pursuit of the thief. The hitter, however, threw his pursuer off the track in the neighborhood of Great Buckingham-street and escaped. Subsequently accused was arrested and identified as the "wanted" individual. Mr. T. M. Williamson conducted the defence, which was one of mistaken identity. The jury found the prisoner guilty, and he was sentenced to 12 months' hard labor.
