1706 York, VA, USA. Birth year: 1706; Birth city: York Co; Birth state: VA

Marriage

William Wallace, son of Peter Wallace and Elizabeth Woods, was born about 1706 in Ireland.

William emigrated from Ireland about 1724 with:

  1. His father-in-law Michael Woods (father of Hannah - and the sisters that follow) Michael's wife/Hannah's mother (Lady) Mary Campbell is not listed in the two references found - will update.
  2. William's two brothers (Peter & Andrew Wallace, married to Hannah's sister Margaret Woods & cousin Martha Woods) The 3 brothers and their wives - 3 sisters, were all 1st cousins;
  3. William's mother Elizabeth Woods Wallace - born & married in Ireland - his father, Samuel Wallace was born abt.1680 & died in northern Ireland "a short time before the closing quarter of the 18th century."
  4. At least three additional siblings of William's immigrated to America at the same time,
  5. and at least three siblings of Michael Woods and Elizabeth Woods Wallace - James, William, and Andrew Woods. They landed in Pennsylvania, where mother Elizabeth stayed a few years while her sons, brother Michael & families went on to Virginia. Elizabeth followed later.

On 20 March 1732, he married his cousin, Hannah Woods, daughter of Michael Woods and Mary Campbell. "William Wallace is my great great great great grandfather. He married Hannah Woods (1710 - ?) on March 20, 1732 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, at the old Donegal Church. They build a plantation on Mecham's River in Albemarle County near what is now Greenwood station, where they raised seven children. Upon his death, this plantation went to his son William Wallace, Jr. (1740 - 1809) who left it to his son Michael Wallace, the father of the famed "Big Foot Wallace." It appears that Big Foot was born in the home of his great grandfather, William Wallace." Dorothy Wallace LukensEntered by Joseph Hallihan
