Biography

Matilda is the youngest child of McDonald Wallace and Julia Hendley. Her mother died shortly after her birth and she was raised by her mother's sister, Lucretia Matelia (Creese) Henley Wells. Her sister Nancy Josephine was also care for by Aunt Lucretia Matelia and Uncle William Byrd Wells.

Mrs. Matilda Isabelle (Wallace) Anderson, 84, died November 19 at her home in Silver Point, Rt.2, after a long illness. Funeral services were yesterday afternoon at the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Rev. Benton Harness officiating, and burial was in the Smellage Cemetery. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, William Grover Anderson, Silver Point, Rt. 2, four daughters, Mrs. Ollie Julian of Baxter, Mrs. Audra Denny of Silver Point, Rt. 1, Mrs. Addie Gill of Detroit, MI, Mrs. Eldra Shanks of Silver Point, Rt. 1, twelve grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
