Research Notes

This family needs valid records such as wills added.

Many things thought to be true during the 1900s and earlier concerning Peter Wallace were proved wrong because there were two men named Peter Wallace and their data was entwined. Peter Wallace was not Peter Wallace junior, son of Peter Wallace senior and Elizabeth Woods of York Co, VA and was never listed as "Peter junior" in his Maryland, Pennsylvania or Virginia records.

Most of what is in online trees is actually about the Peter Wallace of York Co and was based on either George Selden Wallace's book about the descendants of Peter Wallace and Martha Woods or on the earlier Woods lines' histories published by cousins Neander and Edgar Woods. George Selden Wallace, Worth Ray in "Tennessee Cousins," and other authors seized on the less common name of Peter and linked Peter Wallace of Augusta Co, VA with the line of the unrelated Peter Wallace who emigrated from eastern Scotland to York Co, VA in 1650 and who did have a son Peter.

George Selden Wallace's son found no documentation in his father's records for his father's claim of Peter Wallace being the son of a Peter. Thus, Wilma Maie Wallace-Fabos (1922-1987) employed a British research organization in the mid-1970s to confirm or change the earliest Wallace generations as George Selden Wallace had noted them; the report indicated Peter Wallace and his brothers were not children of another Peter Wallace. Thus the Find a Grave data is incorrect.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Peter by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Peter:

What is the source for any of the extra children added here. The following children have the same birth same death no spouse and no sources and do not seem to match other records of this line.

Whose children are Agnes Wallace, Catherine Wallace, Elizabeth Wallace, James Wallace, Janet Wallace and Margaret Wallace all born and died 1700? Where is the documentation? Kentucky Genealogies by Wm H Miller pp 557-558 shown above on this page have only 6 children noted: William, Susannah, Samuel, Andrew, Adam and Peter. Same children in Book: Wallace by George Selden Wallace

Unless I missed it, Peter Wallace, Jr. (1719-1786) should be listed as a son. Findagrave memorial: 175622063. On the other hand, there are two Susannah (Wallace) Woods listed as daughters of Peter Wallace, Sr. Obviously, one of these is wrong. Per Findagrave Memorial ID: 180134469, the correct Susannah (Wallace) Woods is b. 1708- d. 1797.

Harold, I have the explanation of why Peter Wallace (1719 - 1786) https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Wallace-3013, who was not a junior, was not a son in this family. I have added that explanation in research notes on this profile as well now. Yes, FAG is incorrect which is another good reason not to add that to this profile.

Wallace-2993 and Wallace-4369 appear to represent the same person because: These must be the same people, although most agree that he was born in Scotland. There is yet another controversy as to whether his actual name was "Samuel", as some early genealogies appear to have confused him with a different Wallace line in VA. See:
