Harold was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States on October 21, 1913. . He was the son of William Wallace and Annie Smith. Harold lived with the family in both Philadelphia, and Berlin, (Camden County, NJ), until his enlistment in the US Army in 1941. Harold was a Private, First Class in the 30th Infantry, 3rd Division, when he was Killed in Action during World War II in Italy. He was awarded a Purple Heart, and he was buried in the Sicily-Rome Cemetery in Nettuno Italy.
