Notes

Note N3238Elizabeth 'Betsy' Wallace (1808 - aft 1860) was the second wife of Jeremiah Williams (1775 - ?) and according to Williams Family researchers they had a very large family consisting of the following children: Raleigh, Enoch Spinks, Lorenzo D., Amanda Jane, Franey, David Anderson, Caty, Ann, James Wesley, Joseph and Bryant. According to Williams family sources, Jeremiah and Besty left Moore County, NC and traveled to western TN where most of their family was raised. Jeremiah is said to have traveled back and forth several times. Their children and descendants can be found in Census data from Madison, McNairy and Henderson County, TN. Several of them moved on further to TX and OK. Jeremiah Williams' 1st wife is reported to be Florence DeLaney (1774/1780 - c1827). They had the following children: Jeremiah Jr., Elizabeth, John, Matthew, George and Isaac. It is possible that Jeremiah was born in VA as two of his children (Enoch Spinks and David Anderson) reported in the 1880 Census that their father was born in VA. The remaining surviving children listed that he born in NC. It is my belief that Jeremiah Williams was the son of George and Ann Williams. This is based upon three pieces of circumstantial evidence. (1) Everet Wallace, Jeremiah's future father-in-law is a witness to the will of George Williams in 1797, (2) Everet Wallace, Jeremiah Williams and George Williams all lived very near each other just south of the present day town of Robbins, and (3) there are two Jeremiah Williams in upper Moore County around this time, but one Jeremiah is consistently found in the area stated above and the other is found consistently in a different area located north of the present day town of Robbins.
