Biography

John (Wallace) Wallace Xth of Craigie is a member of Clan Wallace.
Scottish flag
John (Wallace) Wallace Xth of Craigie was born in Scotland.

John Wallace, 3rd son of Sir John Wallace, and younger brother of James, was also known as "the good laird."[1]

He married Janet, daughter of Sir Robart Logan of Restalrig and Catharine Stewart, an illegitimate daughter of James III.[1][2]

John died before 29 Dec 1537.[1]

Research Notes

John's elder brother James was a witness to an indenture dated 16 Feb 1519 placing James's birth before 16 Feb 1505. With John the next born male child, one can conjecture that he was 2-4 years younger with a birth likely before 1509.
John passed away between 16 Feb 1519 and 29 Dec 1537 but probably closer to the former date.

Wallace-7442 and Wallace-925 appear to represent the same person because: Wallace-925 was originally based on "Documents Illustrative of Sir WIlliam Wallace, his LIfe and Times" by Robert Rodger, which is unsourced. Wallace-7442 is based on "The Book of Wallace" by Charles Rogers, which is well sourced. Both profiles are now aligned with the latter reference.

There are two references for the Craigie line with one having sources and the other not and to make matters worse, the unsourced reference skips some generations or mixes up spouses. Unfortunately, this has resulted in two lineages for the same Craigie line where only one is appropriate.

To move towards a merger of these lines, it would be good to start with this profile. First, John should be disconnected from the parents as they conflict with all the documentation. Secondly, Wallace-7442 should be merged with this one as it has the lower WikiID.
