Research Notes
In the 1860 census, John Wallen who is 1 month old as well as Martha E. who is 1 year old are residing in Elisha and Amanda Wallen's household.
On [William] Nelson's Texas death certificate, it states that he was born on 13 Apr 1860 in Missouri and that his father was "Eliga" which is presumed to be Elisha. Since two children could not have been born to Elisha and his wife in April and May 1860, it is very possible that John C. and William Nelson are the same person.
No other records have been found for a John C. Wallen, son of Elisha Wallen and Amanda Eaton.
