Lilly Anderson

Lilly Anderson, a Yreka resident passed away on Feb. 14, 2008, in Fairchild Medical Center, with her sons and family at her side. Lilly was born on Nov. 28, 1915 in Cherry Grove, Ore. to Swedish immigrant parents, Jonas and Katrina Wallin. Lilly married Walter 'Turk' Anderson in Cherry Grove on June 10, 1939.

In 1955, Lilly, her husband and three sons moved the family logging business to Northern California eventually making Yreka their home. Lilly was very active in local organizations. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed the local bowling leagues and she was a Hospice Shop Volunteer since its beginning in 1991. Lilly's true enjoyment in life was watching her grandchildren and their friends compete in youth and high school sports. She particularly loved to watch baseball, basketball and track events.

Lilly was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 1994 and a sister, Agnes Moore in 2007. Survivors include her three sons and daughter-in-laws, David and Marla of Roseville, Gary and Jan of Yreka, and Neal and Connie of Bend, Ore.; a brother, Siguard Wallin of Hillsboro, Ore.; two sisters, Ellen Nyberg of Forest Grove, Ore. and Olga Garrigus of Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren, Lisa Keeley, Julie Croteau, Mark Anderson, Traci Anderson, Eric Anderson and Chris Anderson; and twelve great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, in Girdner Funeral Chapel in Yreka, with Pastor Urban Travis of the First Baptist Church presiding.
