Railway station master at Swinford, Co. Mayo. Possibly the first station master there. He was station master there up to his retirement in 1927. The station was opened on 1st October 1895 (by the Midland Great Western railway company.) it was subsequently taken over by CIE...the station closed for passenger traffic on 17 June 1963 and finally closed altogether on 3 November 1975. The station is now a private dwelling. Some of the station buildings remain and the railway shed has been converted into a new library for the town.
His father, Thomas Walsh was also a station master for the same railway company, but in Co. Limerick. H had a brother Mike Walsh who was station master for a while at Tubber in Co. Galway. All 3 stations were with the same company.
He is buried in Glasnevin, Dublin.
