EMMA LENA WALTER was born on January 23, 1868, in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, to MATILDA WEBER, age 44, and THOMAS WALTER, age 54.
In 1870, she was 3 years old and lives with her parents Thomas and Matilda and 3 siblings (Thomas, Rachael, Joseph). Her father and brother Thomas’ occupation was a miller.Emma lived in Emmaus, Pennsylvania,
in 1880. EMMA LENA WALTER married LOUIS JOHN LOHMANN in Wilkes-Barre Township, Pennsylvania, on March 4, 1890, when she was 22 years old.
In 1900, Emma is now age 33 and has been married to Louis Lohmann for 10 years. Since her marriage in 1890, the census records documents she has had 5 children. Her last child, a son Louis John Jr. was just born in May and is the only child living. Their home is on Spruce Street in Scranton and they offer room & boarding to 6 people.
In January of 1910, Emma is now a widow. Her husband Louis died from cancer of the vertebra and head of the femur in January of this year. She has now moved to a house on 1634 Jefferson Avenue in Dunmore, Pennsylvania. Her son Louis is now 10 years old and is living with her. There is also a young woman living in the home, a 30-year-old Mary Gannord, who is listed as a servant; Mary came from Ireland in 1903.
In 1912 Emma remarried George Allen Luckenbach. Louis John continued to live with them.
Emma Lena Walter Lohmann Luckenbach died on January 27, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the age of 61. She was cared for In the University of Pennsylvania hospital in Philadelphia. According to the death certificate, her illnesses preceding her death include Pernicious Anemia, Thrombosis of Right Internal Iliac vein, extending into Inferior Vena Cava. This blood clot subsequently broke off, traveling up into her lungs leading to embolism of the pulmonary artery and heart failure. She was buried the following day, January 28, 1929, in the Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore, Pennsylvania. [1][2]
