Biography

The name of the wife of William Gaylord was not known.

Many have said her name was Mary Walters, but Anderson proved that the Mary Gaylord buried in 1657 is clearly listed as the wife of Walter Gaylord, his son.[1] The confusion comes from the fact that his wife and Mary, the wife of his son, died within a couple of months of each other.[1]

The Palisado Cemetery inscription reads:

Mary ye Wife of Walter Galeb (Lord) died June 29 1657.[1]

The inscription for William Gaylord, Sr's wife who died in 1657 simply reads:

ye wife of william gaylr snr[1]
Tom, look at new data I added to William Gaylord's profile, which includes 1982 research by Benjamin Gaylord, and Charles Anderson's Great Migration Begins summations. Gaylord found no gravestone for Mary Walters Gaylord-- apparently the only source for her name-- and neither of them mentioned a Sarah. -- Jillaine (Smith-32867) 00:56, 1 May 2013 (EDT))

"The wife of William Gailor senr dyed June 20. 1657.[2]

What is the source for Mary Walter? William Gaylord Sr. wife's name is unknown, she is referred to as "wife of William". Should someone edit this profiles data to show first name Unknown, LNAB Unknown, CLN Gaylord?
