HUONVILLE. SAILOR FAREWELLED A large number of residents of Huonville and district farewelled Able Seaman Ralph Walton, son of Mr and Mrs J. H. Walton, at the Huonville Town Hall last evening. Cr. A. C. Parsons presided and on behalf of well-wishers presented the guest of the evening with an inscribed fountain pen. On behalf of the R.S.S.A.I.L.A. He also congratulated t.hfi vnune1 sailnv on t.nkintr his part in the fight for the freedom of the world from nazism and wished him good health and a safe return. Rev. J. J. Cramp and Cr. H. G. Heron also made congratulatory speeches. Musical items were provided by Miss H. Soundy, Mr G. Short, community singing and a recitation by Miriam Rickards. Supper and a dance concluded a very pleasant evening. The accompanists and dance music were played by Mrs A. Rickards. Able Seaman Walton was accompanied by his wife, mother and father, his grandmother (Mrs C. S. Marsh) and a number of other relatives. He left Huonville today to rejoin his ship at Hobart.

87th Birthday Celebrated Mrs. C. S. Marsh, of Huonville, received many congratulations on Friday when she celebrated her 87th birthday anniversary. Relatives and friends gathered together for the occasion. Mrs. Marsh, who recently recovered from a serious illness, is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Osborne Geeves, pioneers of Geeveston. She resides with her daughter, Mrs. A. Rickards, jun., in Sale Street and is the senior member of five living generations. They are: Mrs. Marsh, her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Walton (Huonville), grand-daughter, Mrs. C. H. Oates (Lucaston), great-grandson, Mr. M. Oates (Lucaston), and great-great grandson, Barry Oates. WEDDING BELLS. YEATES—MARSH. The marriage of Mr. William Robert Yeates, the manager of the Huon Newspaper Co. Ltd., Franklin, and so of Mr. aud Mrs. Yeates, of Bairnsdale, Victoria, and Myrtle Marsh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 0. S. Marsh, of Huonville, was celebrated in the Congregational Church, Davey street, Hobart, on Saturday, August 19, 1916, at 4 o ’clock p.m. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. II. F. Taylor. Messrs. S. Howard Grucber and J. Harvey acted as best man and groomsman respectively, with Misses Vera Marsh and Eva Batgcr as chief bridesmaids, and Misses Zcua Marsh and Phyllis Walton as the bride’s attendants. As the bridal party entered the church the choir sang ‘‘Oh, Perfect Love “ The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a simple pretty white costume, -tin; skirt being full with deep rucks at the hem, and the coatee effect ami medico roll collar was daintily trimmed and finished off with soft lace, ami she carried a lovely bouquet of white azaleas and maidenhair fern (the gift of the bridegroom. The service was fully choral, under the direction of Mr. George Jackson (the church organist), and during the ceremony the choir sang the two well-known hymns, “ How Welcome was the Call” and “ Oh, Love Divine and Golden.” During the signing of the register tbe choir rendered an anthem, and as the happy couple left the church, Mr. Jackson played the “ Wedding March” in his usual brilliant style. Whilst taking their seats in the car, the bridal pair were practically covered with confetti. After the ceremony an adjournment was made to the Imperial, Collins street, where a sumptuous repast had been prepared, and every detail carried out in a most efficient manner by mine host Belford. The usual toasts were honoured, and about a dozen congratulatory cables were received from the mainland, and read out. The arrange incuts throughout were splendidly organised, and the comfort of each guest was carefully studied, and the host aud hostess (Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Marsh) are to be congratulated.
