Lancelot Ward was the father of Philip, per her brother's will.
Robert Ward of Lexden, Essex, left a will dated 8 January 1616[/71, proved 9 May 1617 (Essex Record Office, Chelmsford, D/ACW 4/47; Waters, "Genealogical Gleanings in England" (note 49), 2:1144-45), mentioning (among others) father Lancelot Ward deceased, "my mother in law the late wife of my father Lancelot Ward," and brother John Ward. Among the witnesses was "Phellep Sherman," almost certainly the testator’s sister. The first wife of Lancelot Ward was named Joan ("Feet of Fines for Essex, Volume V, 1547-1580 (note 109), citing The National Archives, CP25(2)127, 1631, no. 58, Michaelmas Term, 1567).] Phillipp died after 8 January 161 6[/7], when she witnessed the will of her brother, Robert Ward.
