"25. Eleazer Ward, born February 26, 1672, in Newton, Mass., died January 18, 1751, on Oxford, Mass. He married 1707 DELIVERANCE TROWBRIDGE, born December 30, 1679, daughter of Deacon James and Margartet (Jackson) Trowbridge, sister of the husband that his niece Sarah took in the following year, and half-sister of the wives of his brother Richard and his nephew John Greenwood.
He served many years in the Indian wars and was in the Port Royal expedition, receiving for his services a grant of land in the South Gore. Up to 1736 he was a resident of Newton, and was one of the town's selectmen for four years. In 1736, then 64 years of age, he bought the Elliot grist-mills at Oxford and moved there.
He was town clerk of Oxford from 1739 to 1746, and became a man of influence in the township.
