Anne (Ware) Rockett Cowley
Anne Ware was christened 5 Jan 1695 in New Kent County, Virginia, the daughter of Rev. Jacob Ware and Susanna Adams. Her parents arrived in Virginia in 1690 from Menheniot Parish, Cornwall, England, and her father served as the minister of St. Peter's Parish in New Kent County from 1690 until 1696. The Wares then moved to Henrico County, where Rev. Ware became the minister of Varina Parish, a position he maintained until his death in July 1709.[1]
Anne Ware married about 1713 to Baldwin Rockett, a native of England. Rockett and three of their sons were "seafaring men" with Baldwin being a ship's chandler. Anne and Baldwin had five sons:
After her husband's death in 1730, Anne married Capt. Abraham Cowley and had at least two children:
Anne (Ware) Rockett Cowley remained a resident of Henrico Parish at least until 1780. She outlived her son, Baldwin Rockett, Jr., who named his mother in his will dated 27 Sep 1780. She died sometime after that. [3]
