Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Susannah (Ware) Allen was a Virginia colonist.

Susanna Ware, daughter of Jacob Ware Jr. and Susannah Adams was born about 1697, probably at Westover, Henrico County, Virginia.[1]

She was married Sep 17 1717 to Richard Oglesby in Henrico County.[citation needed] The couple had at least four children, Jacob, Alice, Elizabeth and Mourning.[2]The children were minors in 1730 when their father died. A settlement of his estate notes the schooling of two boys and two girls.[3]

Susanna's first husband, Richard Oglesby died in 1730.[4] Susannah married second to Charles Allen[5] about 1731, probably in Goochland County, VA.[1]

She and her second husband, Charles Allen, may have moved to Louisa County, Virginia about 1743.[6][1]
