Aggie Vae (they called her "Aggie") was the daughter of Edward D. and Laura Agusta Warner.[1] She and her 4 brothers and sisters enjoyed a nice, comfortable life with their mother and father until he died shortly before his 42nd birthday. By 1920, her two brothers and sister Lucille were working , John worked as a painter and Dwight worked in a cotton mill. Aggie and Mildred were in school. [2] Sometime in the mid 1920’s Aggie, her mother and two sisters moved to Hickory, Catawba County, NC. The 3 sisters worked to support themselves and their mother. Lucy worked as a linotype operator at The Hickory Daily Record, Mildred worked at Hickory Printing Co., and Aggie Vae worked at a Variety store. [3] Also working at Hickory Printing Co. were Howard Drum and Joseph Travis. Aggie married Joe in about 1938. By the early 1940’s Laura was living with her daughter Aggie Vae and Joe Travis and Laura was bedridden by this time.
