Research Notes and Material

At one point this profile had six wives attached. Two unknown are probably meant as the same first wife. Wives Anne and Margaret are directly or indirectly named in the Will as are their children not fathered by John. Given the parish register studies completed long ago, it would appear there is no basis on which to attach spouses Rose Unknown or Christine Hinsman. Within the parish register of Nayland there are multiple men named John Warren and in all probability there are men of this name in nearby parishes. Absent reasoned conjecture or documentation, these other wives should probably be detached. ~ T Stanton 29 Aug 2020

Agnes appears to be his wife when he died . will transcript is here https://archive.org/details/newenglandhistor1910wate/page/348/mode/1up?view=theater Browning-5288 22:27, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

This appears to be a misinterpretation of the will transcript, which says "Agnes Cool (sic), my wife's daughter, all the appurtenances..... of my wife that once was." referring to (Margaret Firmety Cole) Agnes here, is his step daughter, not his wife. (Entrikin-5 17:40, 20 January 2024 (UTC))

He had five wives? And I thought Rose was the wife of another John Warren, his son, the cardmaker. She is mentioned in his will.
