Rebecca Waterhouse (aka Watrous), daughter of Jacob Waterhouse of Wethersfield and New London, married Thomas Williams Sr. of Wethersfield about 1655. [1] Jacob Waterhouse and his family resided, after moving from Wethersfield, at New London from 1647. [2] Although the marriage records for Rebecca and Thomas have not been found, the traditional location for the wedding would have been the home town of the bride, being New London. On the other hand, Rebecca's early years were spent in Wethersfield, and it is where the couple settled to raise a family.

Rebecca is referred to in the 20 Dec 1689 will of her husband Thomas Williams as "my beloved wife". [2] Thomas left Rebecca his homelot, furnishings, and all other lands, during her natural life. [2] Thomas' will was not presented in court to be proved until 3 Feb 1706/7 (although the inventory was taken 28 Feb 1692/3). Possibly Rebecca died shortly before 3 Feb 1706/7. [2]
Death of Husband
Rebecca's husband Thomas Williams, Sr. signed and dated his will 20 Dec 1689, distributing his property to his beloved wife for her natural life, and small bequests to his children. [3]
Death
Rebecca was alive when her husband Thomas wrote his will in 1689, as proved by the will. [3]It is believed that she died before 3 Feb 1706, because that is when the will was finally presented in court to be proved. [3]
Burial
Wethersfield Village Cemetery, Wethersfield, Hartford County, Connecticut, USA.
Research Notes
Research on the lives of Rebecca Waterhouse and Thomas Williams by Sherman Adams and Henry Stiles, published in The history of ancient Wethersfield, Connecticut in 1904, has been updated by Gale Ion Harris in TAG in 2004, and by Grace Pratt Bonsall in NEHGR in 1950. The more recent publications, with broader and deeper access to primary records, and other resources, should take precedence over any conflicting data from the earlier book, (unless there is evidence to the contrary), in particular, the dates for Rebecca's birth, marriage and death.Dellinger-332

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Rebecca by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Rebecca:
Please note that Rebecca married Thomas Williams "about 1655", according to TAG Vol 79 (2004) page 38.
The record for the marriage has not been located, but it was definitely NOT in 1638, when she was about 2years old. Please do not use the data from FindaGrave for the work on this profile. It has serious errors.
Use instead the profile for Waterhouse-60, which is documented with reliable sources.
My father states that Rebecca's death was Feb 5, 1691/92 although he did not cite a source for this information.
