Biography

Louisa Elizabeth Waters was born at sea on the 10th May 1875, as her family were emigrating to New Zealand aboard the ship Collingwood. The passenger list reads - Waters Mathew age 39, a Lincolnshire Farm Labourer; Maria 32; George 8; Arthur 6; Albert 5; David 15 months (died on board 05/05/75 of suppressed scarlatina) and a female child born on board 10/05/75. ^{[1] [2]} Louisa Elizabeth Cooper was the sole beneficiary of her brother John's will dated 19th June 1916. In these documents she states - That I, this deponent, was born on a British ship on the high seas of British parents .. ^[3]

In 1896, Louisa Elizabeth Waters is listed in the New Zealand Electoral Rolls as a spinster of Pukearuhe, Egmont, Taranaki

Louisa married Stephen Cooper 1902 in New Zealand; they lived in Hamilton.

DEATHS -

COOPER - On September 12, at her daughter's residence, Beale Street, Hamilton East; Louisa Elizabeth, wife of S. T. Cooper and loving mother of Ivy, Daisy and Clyde, in her 62nd year.

Sunlight passes, shadows fall.

Loving memories outlast all;

In every sorrow of the heart.

Eternal mercy bears a part.

Funeral will leave St. John's Church. Hamilton East to-morrow (Tuesday), at 2.30 pm for the Hamilton East Cemetery.
