Image:Paula s Sources-8.jpgDefenders in the Battle of the Alamo

An Alamo Defender from England, Thomas Waters was born 1812. [1]His immigration to America was via New Orleans.[2] [3] We known this as Thomas joined the New Orleans Greys in New Orleans and traveled with them to Texas. The Greys were an elite group of men at the beginning, clothed, fed and weapons provided by a financier). Thomas disembarked from the ship, found the news and immediately joined up with the New Orleans Greys. His commanding officer was Capt. Thomas Breece. [4]

Thomas emigrated to Texas with the New Orleans Greys. His commanding officer was Capt. Thomas Breece, commander of the company of New Orleans Greys.[5] Some of these Greys marched from Louisiana westward to San Antonio de Bexar and others were taken by ship, porting in the Houston area. They reached Bexar colony in time for all the Greys and Thomas to fight in the siege of Bexar, October-December, 1835, under Captain Thomas Breece.[4]

In 1836, Thomas was transferred to Capt. William Carey's artillery company in the Alamo garrison.[4]

March 6, 1836, Thomas was killed in the Battle of the Alamo. A memorial is in San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas. A memorial is in San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas.[6][7][4]
