Sarah Herndon Watkins was born in 1760 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. She was the only daughter of James and Martha (Thompson) Watkins. She married Capt Robert (Old Blue) Thompson of Amelia County. They had three daughters:[2]

  • Pamela (Thompson) Bibb
  • Elizabeth (Thompson) Tate
