William B. Watkins was born in Dent County, Missouri on November 9, 1841. He was the son of Louvisa Coppedge of Missouri and James D. Watkins of Kentucky.
William B. Watkins married Elizabeth Hobson in Dent County, Missouri on April 8, 1860.[1][2][3]
1860 Census - Spring Creek Township, Dent Co., MO William Watkins is shown at age 19 in the 1860 Census for Spring Creek Township, Dent County, Missouri, with his new wife Elizabeth Watkins age 18, living in the household of his father James Watkins age 59 and his mother Louvicy Watkins age 53, with siblings Hutson Watkins age 16, and Lewis Watkins age 12. Also shown on the same census, is the family of Arpatia and James Anderson, William Watkin's sister snd brother-in-law, and the household of George W. Coppedge.[4]
1862 - Military Service - Civil War (Confederate Army) In 1862 at age 20, William B. Watkins served as a Sergeant during the Civil War for the Confederate Army fighting in Company K of the 1st/4th Consolidated Regiment of the Missouri Infantry.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18]
1880 Census - Watkins Township, Dent Co., MO William B. Watkins is shown at age 37 in the 1880 U.S. Census for Watkins Township, Dent County, Missouri, living with his wife Elizabeth Catherine Watkins age 37, and their children Louvisa Watkins age 15, James Dawson Watkins age 13, John F. Watkins age 9, Virginia Watkins age 6, and Arthur Watkins age 2. Also living in William B. Watkins household was a 22 year old blacksmith, Ross D. Farmer, a boarder from Illinois.[19]
1900 Census - Norman Township, Dent Co., MO William B. Watkins is shown at age 59, in the 1900 Census for Norman Township, Dent County, Missouri, living with wife of 40 years Elizabeth Watkins age 58 and their son Hutson Watkins age 22, their daughter-in-law, Hutson's wife, Nora Watkins age 21, and their grandson, Hutson and Nora's son, Raymon A. Watkins age 2. On the same census, living in the previous household, was William and Elizabeth Watkin's daughter Cinthia A. Hobson age 63 and their son-in-law, Charles W. Hobson age 63, and a 21 year old boarder from Missouri Ralph Herod.[20]
William B. Watkins passed away in Norman Township, Dent County, Missouri on October 22, 1911 at age 69.[21]
He is buried in out on Highway FF in Carty Cemetery in Dent County, Missouri.[22]
