Elizabeth (Watson) Stavert is a member of Clan Watson.

Elizabeth Bridget Watson was born on 24 June 1820 and was baptised on 21 July 1820 at Bristol, Gloucester, England[1]. She was the only daughter of William Watson and Bridget Bowles Abraham.

Sadly her mother Bridget died on 26 August 1828.

Elizabeth was aged 22 when she married 33 year old John Stavert (the son of Adam Stavert and Agnes Scott) of Cunzerton, Roxburgshire, Scotland on 16 August 1842 at Swainswick, Somerset, England, by Licence[2]. The witnesses were her father William Watson and her brother William Scott Watson. Notice of their marriage was printed on page 3 of the North Devon Journal dated 18 August 1842:

On the 16th inst., at Swainswick church, near Bath, by the Rev. Hubert Mc'Laughlin, rector of Borraston, Worcestershire, John Stavert, Esq., of Cunzerton, Roxburgshire, to Elizabeth Bridget, only daughter of W. Watson, Esq., of Burnhead, in the same-county, North Britain.[3]

They remained childless.

In the 1851 Scotland Census, Elizabeth Stavert (aged 30) was recorded living with her husband John Stavert (41) at Burngrove, Roxburghshire. Also in the household was her sister in law Elizabeth Bruce (45) and four servants.

They lived at "Hoscote" which was a Victorian country pile home sited on 450 acres of grounds, built for John Stavert in 1858. The estate had been bought by the family in 1786. (It remained in that family until 2000.)

Elizabeth's husband John passed away on 13 October 1859.

By 1861, Elizth Bridget Stavert (aged 40, occupation Annuity and Land) was recorded as the Head of the household at 4 Paragon Street, Bristol, Clifton, England. Also in the household was her widowed father William Watson (72 and a Landed Proprietor) and three female household staff.

Elizabeth Stavert passed away on 26 June 1868, pre-deceasing her father[4]. Notice of her death appeared on page 3 of the Western Daily Press dated 27 June 1868:

On the 26th inst,, at Burngrove, Weston-Super-Mare, Mrs E. B. STAVERT, widow of the late John Stavert, Esq., of Hoxote, N.B. and daughter of Wm. Watson, Esq., Weston-super Mare and Bristol, and of Bucklands, Roxburghshire, N.B.[5]

Her Will was proved on 28 July 1868 at Wells by the oaths of her brothers William Scott Watson of Bucklands near Hawick in the county of Roxburgh, and Reverend Henry Watson of Langton juxta Partney in the County of Lincoln, the Executors. Effects under £3,000
