When Iva Iona Watson was born on April 17, 1889, in Merrillan, Wisconsin, her father, Jefferson, was 36 and her mother, Caroline, was 39. She married William Winfield McClellan and they had two children together. She then married Ora Glendon Bates and they had eight children together. She died on July 1, 1984, in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 95.
