Thomas Watson, N.S. stagecoach driver, dies at 101 in Centreville
CENTREVILLE - Thomas Watson, 101, of Centreville, Kings County, died Saturday in Grandview Manor, Berwick. Born in Scotts Bay, he was a son of the late William and Deborah (Tupper) Watson. He was the last stagecoach driver in Nova Scotia and his last run was from Barrington to Shelburne. He was a mail driver for several years from Scotts Bay to Canning. Early in his life he worked out West in the lumber mills. He had been a member of Centreville for several years. He is survived by three daughters, Deborah Good, Kingston, Ont.; Elizabeth Morrison, Brantford, Ont.; Jean Dodge, Espanola, Ont.; nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Marjorie North, a brother, Wilbur. The body is in H.C. Lindsay's Memorial Chapel, Kentville, where funeral will be 3:30 p.m. today, Rev. Neil Price officiating, with burial in Hillaton Cemetery, at a later date. Donations may be made to any charity.
