Charles Watson was born in Edinburgh in 1874; his baptism record reads - Mr Charles Watson, wright, South Richmond Street, and Mrs Elizabeth Herron his spouse had a son born Wednesday the twenty second January 1794 named Charles; witnesses; the Congregation of the Tollbooth Church Edinburgh.[1]
Charles Watson was brought up by two maiden aunts, sisters of Patrick Heron, at their home Seaside House beside Leith Links near Edinburgh. Patrick Heron was landlord of the Black Bull, Glasgow. [3]
The Rev. Charles Watson was the first occupant of the new manse, built in 1824. The manse became the Forth Hotel, Burntisland. [4]
