J. Osborne Watson was the son of William Watson and Elizabeth Boyd according to a DAR Lineage Book.[1] This would make him a descendant of Revolutionary War veteran James Boyd (1743-1813).[2] Further research is needed to determine if this is accurate. He was a farmer in Houston County, Georgia, living in subdivision 167.[3] In 1870 he owned 280 acres of improved farmland and 160 acres of wooded land.[3] His farm was valued at $4,400.00 with $150.00 worth of implements and machinery.[3] He kept a horse, some mules, a cow, and some hogs. He grew mainly Indian corn.[3]
