Arthur James Watt was born in 1880.[1] He was the son of James Watt and Margaret Mathie.
Arthur married Dora Adelaide Ferris at Alsonville, NSW, in 1911.[2][3]
WEDDING. WATT— FERRIS.[3]
Lynwood Methodist Church was filled to the limit on Wednesday, morning, when Miss Dora Ferris, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Wallace Ferris, of "Sunnyside," Uralba, and Mr. Arthur Watt, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Watt, of Tomerong, near Nowra, were united in the holy bonds. The Rev. S. Bembick performed the ceremony, and the church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride, with palms, etc. Before leaving the church, a very pretty wedding bell, suspended above the bridal pair, showered confetti upon them, ringing at the same time. "The voice that breathed o'er Eden" was sung as the bride entered on her father's arm, looking very pretty in her dress of cream fancy stripe silk taffeta, with yoke and sleeves of silk all over, shoulder piece and short upper sleeve gathered with magyar effect, the bodice finished with silk applique; trained tunic skirt, edged with bauds of silk; veil, and coronet of orange blossoms. She also wore a beautiful gold bangle, set with rubies (the bridegroom's gift), and carried a shower bouquet of choice white flowers and maidenhair and asparagus fern.
The bride was attended by Miss Trissei(?) Ferris who wore a cream fancy voile with yoke of net lace overall finished with guipure insertion and motifs, and cream silk straw, hat trimmed with silk ribbon and cream roses; Miss Mary Barlow (niece), and Miss Marjorie Ferris, wearing blue silk muslin dresses with yokes and undersleeves of overall lace, yokes and gathered sleeves finished with guipure insertion, and hats of silk straw, with full crown of charmeuse satin and wreath of small pink flowers. The bridegroom's gift to them was a gold brooch each. The bride's and bridesmaids' beautiful bouquets were made by Mrs. B. Cummings, Miss Robinson, and Miss McPherson. Mr. William Watt, of Molong, filled the position of best man, and Mr. Tom Ferris that of groomsman. The bridal party left the church to the strains of the "Wedding March," played by Miss Ida McKinnon. The breakfast partaken of at "Sunny-side by upwards of 100 people was laid under the grape-vine trellis, which was further decorated with bangalow palms, and interlaced with zamias. White cosmos and maiden-hair, with an occasional vase of golden glow, made the long table very pretty. — "R R. Times."
