Charlottesville is an independent city in Virginia. It is the county seat for Albemarle County, but is not 'in' the county. Confusing, I know, but that's the way it is in Virginia.

Normally, a house - Monticello - would not be listed as a place; however, since it (and surrounding land) is a famous place, it is appropriate to identify it. It is in Albemarle County. Appropriate, I believe, to leave as shown.

Thank you. That looks logical, too; with Charlottesville being in Albemarle County. Everything I am looking at says that Charlottesville is in Albemarle County, as opposed to what Findagrave lists as Charlottesville being in Charlottesville City and not in Albemarle County. Sometimes it is hard to reconcile what various sources "say".

Robin Lee

All accounts of her death, indicate that her husband was "at her bedside" when she died. As they lived at Monticello, the place of death would be their home. Monticello is located in Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia.
