In 1836 he and his brother Peter Weaver, Jr. witnessed and signed an indenture for their father, Peter Weaver, Sr.
His first wife Margaret died about 1848 and their 4 children were placed within their paternal grandfather, Peter Weaver, Sr.
He went out to the California gold fields, so he did not appear with his family on the 1850 census.
In 1850 his brother David was an an executor of their father's estate, but neither of his brothers, Sam nor Peter Jr., were mentioned.
About 1851 he returned from California.
