Biography

Soldier of the American Revolution Capt. John Ashley's Co. 3rd Virginia regiment.

William Webb was the first of the Webb family to emigrate to North Carolina. He came to North Carolina in about 1778.

On 15 July 1771, William married Frances Young Webb in Granville County, North Carolina.[1]

They had nine children:

  1. Rachel Dewitt (Webb) Howard (1772–1852)
  2. James Webb (1774–1855)
  3. William Smith Webb (1776-1866)
  4. John Webb (1778–1858)
  5. Thomas Webb (1779-1848)
  6. Mary Edmondson Webb (1782-1837)
  7. Henry Young Webb (1784-1823)
  8. Frances Webb (1786-1810)
  9. Samuel Smith Webb (1791–1861)
