James Mathew Webb was born September 14, 1850, in Benton, Arkansas,[1] to Nancy C. (Dunlap) Webb, age 21, and Wiliam Woodson Webb, age 30. He was known as "Matt" by family, as reported in the Meiser Genealogy Book.[2] He was 10 years old in his parent's home in Washington, Bridge Creek and Fremont, Ouachita, Arkansas in 1850, along with his sisters, Mary -6, and Martha-7 months old.[3] By 1970 His Father and family had moved to Osage, Benton, Arkansas, in the Bentonville Postoffice area. He was 19 by this time and his sister Nancy who was also in the home was age 17.[4]
In 1880 he and Phebe were living in Sugar Creek/Mount Vernon, Benton, Arkansas on his father William W Webb's farm, with their daughter Olla Inez (Webb) Harris age 1.[6]
He died in 1885 in Benton, Arkansas, when he was 35 years old, and was buried in the Hickman Cemetery, in Pea Ridge, Benton Co., Arkansas.[1]
