After the death of John D. Webb, Miles' father, he and his brother Milledge Clark Webb went to live with their Uncle Burrell Webb. The other brothers and sisters went to live with another uncle William Austin Webb. Since this happened they are listed on the Census' of the time as children on Burrell John Webb and William Irvin Webb rather than John D. Webb
