Rosa Weber was born May 3, 1859, in Kiel, Wisconsin, although she often claimed it was 1862. Her parents were Joseph and Gertrude (Schaaf) Weber, and her birth name may be Rosa or Rosina. She grew up in Calumet, Wisconsin, with her family. Around 1878, she married Michael Long; it is unknown where this took place or how they met, although Michael may have been working on track near Calumet. Following their marriage, Rosa lived in Mt. Pulaski before moving to Chicago. She died in Chicago on January 16, 1926, and was buried in Saint Joseph Cemetery in suburban River Grove.
