Biography

Sarah (Weber) Overbeck has German Roots.

Maria Sarah Weber was the first born of Jacob and Anna Cecilia (Reichard) Weber of Hinzweiler, Germany. Her birth date doesn’t appear with those of her siblings in the records of the Reformed Church of Hinzweiler. Her gravestone gives her birth as January 1720 (Jan 8th in one source; Jan 18th in another). Some speculate this may have been a Julian calendar date, as January 1721 is a more fitting date based on the marriage of her parents. Her family arrived in this country at Philadelphia aboard the ‘’Robert and Alice’’ in 1742. She is positively identified as Jacob Weber’s daughter based on the 1756 Bucks County, PA, deeds and the 1752 Bucks County Orphans Court records, where she is listed as his surviving daughter. [1] [2]

Records indicate that Maria Sarah and Jacob Oberbeck were married sometime between 1747 and 1758 at the New Goshenhoppen Reformed Church, in Upper Hanover Township, Montgomery County, PA. They were definitely married before 1750, when they were sponsors at a nephew’s christening. [3] [4]

They had at least seven children: an unnamed son who died in 1758, Andreas, John George, Philip, Mary Elizabeth, Henry, and Anna Mariah. [5]

Maria Sarah Oberbeck died May 16, 1777 age 57-4-8 in Springfield Township, Bucks County, PA. She is buried in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, in Springfield. [6] [7]

I just added a citation to an article in the latest issue of The Genealogist by Leaman Don Harris and Gale Ion Harris, FASG. It states that Philip Overbeck's widow Sarah married second Jacob Keyser and had a daughter Susannah Keyser and probably a daughter Sarah Keyser, who married Daniel Schneider. That woman would have been born quite a bit later than 1720. It is the same Philip Jacob Overbeck, as the probate record mentioned is the same as on the profile attached here.

Weber-1879 and Weaver-3636 appear to represent the same person because: The name should be weber not weaver

No source found in FAG for Sarah, Philip or John with dates similar to those listed.

Tried both Overpeck and Overbeck.
