Biography

Sarah Webster was born in 1785, the daughter of Joseph Webster and Sarah Bailey.[1] She was married about 1808 to Moses Johnson, also of Atkinson, NH. He was born 25 Feb. 1786, the son of John Johnson (1748-1823) and Ruth Emerson (1750-1823).

Moses and Sarah settled in the homestead of Moses father in the northwest sector of Atkinson, NH (adjacent to Hampstead, NH), where they had eight children:[2]

  1. Bethiah Webster, b. 20 Nov. 1809; m. Nathan Richardson, Apr. 1842; d. bet 1870-1874
  2. Hannah, b. 25 Nov. 1811; m1. Moses Webster, 5 Sep. 1850; m2. Andrew Stiles Jr., 12 June 1866; d. 3 Jan. 1880
  3. Adeline, b. 1 Mar. 1814; d. 21 Aug. 1814
  4. Sarah Webster, b. 8 Aug. 1815; d. 9 Aug. 1815
  5. Nathan, b. 27 Jan. 1818; m. Syrena Brown, 2 June 1842; d. 6 Apr. 1884
  6. Sarah Ann, b. 18 July 1820; m. Harris Wilson, 23 Oct. 1845; d. 8 Oct. 1900
  7. Bailey Davis, b. 25 July 1822; m. Mary Caroline Harding, 28 Nov. 1854; d. 2 Mar. 1886, and
  8. Moses Hazen, b. 19 June 1825; m. Nancy B. Ames, 22 Aug. 1848; d. 1893.

The family continued to live in Atkinson, NH when the 1810,[3] 1820,[4] 1830,[5] 1840[6] and 1850[7] censuses were taken. Moses was a farmer and owned real estate valued at $2,000.

Sarah lost her husband when Moses died on 30 Aug. 1852 at Atkinson, NH of “disease of the stomach”, at age 66.[8]

As a widow, Sarah was recorded living alone (but next door to sons Moses, Nathan and Bailey) at Hampstead, NH when the 1860 census[9] was taken. She could not be located in the 1870 census, so apparently died in the 1860s.

Webster-10802 and Webster-682 appear to represent the same person because: Same husband. Didn't spot the match when Webster-10802 created
