Nero Brobst Weiss was born in Pennsylvania on June 8, 1827. He was the son of Andrew Weiss and Maria Christmann.
At the age of 25, Nero married Louisa Hontz on November 7, 1852, in Mahoning, Carbon, Pennsylvania, when she was 16 years old.[1] They had thirteen children - Ellen Jane, Anna Maria, Charles Alfred, Sarah Alice, Julia Ann, Andrew Leonard, Emma L., Joseph Franklin, George William, John Lewis, Louisa Martha, Lilly May, and Nero Brobst Jr.
In 1860, Louisa and Nero and children lived in Mahoning, Carbon, Pennsylvania, where Nero worked as a blacksmith.[2]
In July 1863, Nero registered for the Civil War draft in Mahoning, Carbon, Pennsylvania, listing his occupation as blacksmith.[3]
In 1870 and 1880, the family was in Franklin, Carbon, Pennsylvania, where Nero worked as a lock tender and as a blacksmith.[4][5]
Nero reached 59 years of age and died in East Weissport, Carbon, Pennsylvania, on August 5, 1886. He was buried at Gnaden Huetten Cemetery in Lehighton, Carbon, Pennsylvania.[6]
