"Grandmother and grandfather [Welborn] had four boys, names was Jack, Mart, George and Tom, three girls, Callie, Manervie, Florida, my mother." Nola Dillard Loggins, May 23, 1955.[1]
"George Wiley Wilburn (later changed to Welborn) was born in 1859 in Clayton, GA. On April 18, 1877 he married a Cherokee woman named Georgia Anna Cantrell in Rabun County. They had five children together: Ada, Halston, Robert, Thomas, and Albert. Wife Georgia Anna Wilburn died in 1902.
The next year, George married the widow Roxanna Queen. George left all his children behind on a bridge between GA and SC and he and Roxanna moved to SC. However, the 1910 Census and 1920 Census found him living back in Clayton GA. He had one child by his second wife, Ethel, born in 1908. Roxanna died sometime in the 1920s, and George Wiley Welborn moved back to SC. He lived in Easley, SC at the time of his death in 1936 at age 77. He is buried at the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Pickens Co." [2]
