Martin Welborn was born in about 1837 in South Carolina, United States to Elisha Welborn and Sarah Crawford. Martin died after 1860 but before 1869 based on Census information and his wife's remarriage.
The 1850 Census For Rabun County, Georgia, United States, shows Martin Welborn, his brother John Welborn and sister Cynthia Welborn living the home of their parents. [1]
Martin Wilborn appears on the 1862 Georgia Salt Lists for Raburn County. [3]
In 1870, his children, William Albert Welborn, Sarah J. Wellborn, and Martin Frank Welborn, are seen living in the home of his wife Margaret Eliza Benfield and her second husband Joseph Grayson Teem in Rabun, Georgia, United States.[4] The children are mistakenly listed by the last name of Teem. It would be almost impossible for them to be the children of Joseph who was only 19 at the time of the 1870 Census and the children ranged in age from 11 - 6.
Martin is mentioned in his son William Albert Wilborn's death record. [6]
