Disputed Origins

There appears to be no evidence for wife Wells' first name. Anderson in the Great Migration series, uses Unknown, as do Talcott and Jacobus. Her date of death is not known, except that it probably occurred prior to 1586.

Talcott says that John Talcott married twice. First, he married Unknown Wells. They had the following children:^[1][2]

• John, b. bef. 1558; d. 1604; m. Anne Skinner (d. 1637 Felsted, Essex, England)^[1]
• Robert, of Colchester; m. Joanna Drane; d. 1641 (Will dated 11 Aug 1641, proved 1 Oct 1641)
• daughter, m. -- Barnard

John died in 1606, leaving six minor children from his second marriage,^[1] so they were all born after 1586. This would place John's second marriage as occurring in or before 1585 and Unknown Wells' death in 1585 or before.
