There is conflicting resource information for Thomas's parents. The following data has Thomas Wells and Martha Boyd as the parents for this Thomas. Fourth Generation: Thomas Wells IV (1710-1804) and Elizabeth Howard of Baltimore, Baltimore Co, Md.

Thomas Wells IV was born January 28, 1710/11 in Queen Anne Parish, PG Co Md. He was christened at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. He married Elizabeth "Eliza" Howard, d/o Joshua Howard & Joanna O'Carroll, on September 16, 1736, in Garrison Forest, Baltimore Co, Md. Elizabeth Howard was born April 27, 1714, in Garrison Forest, Baltimore Co Md. Thomas Wells IV died May 20, 1804, in Baltimore, Md. He is buried in St. Thomas Parish, Baltimore, Md. (St. James Parish Register 1797-1815: Thomas Wells, age 95, buried from St. Thomas 5/20/1804) Elizabeth Howard Wells died about 1785. Couple had six children: Francis Wells b. 26 June 1737, d. 13 Apr 1769 St. Thomas Parish, Balto. Md; Joseph Wells b. 29 May 1739, d. 4 Feb 1808 Frederick Co Md.; John Wells b. 25 March 1743 Balto. Md, d. ?; James Wells b. 5 Nov 1747, d. ?; Thomas Wells V b. 9 August 1750, d. ?; Ann Wells b. 11 March 1756, d. ?
