Biography
William Henry Wells was born in the Sep quarter 1868 in Warrington registration district, mother's maiden name Hankinson which is pretty close to her name on marriage of Hankey! [1] He was the son of Henry Wells and Mary Ellen Hankey.
In 1871 he was living with his aunt, his father's sister, at Stockton Heath, Appleton, Cheshire - Hannah Cook head mar 32 labourer's wife b Bermondsey; Elizabeth Cook dau 11 school b Appleton; Sarah Cook dau 8 school b Appleton; Mary Ellen Cook dau 3 b Appleton; William H Wells nephew 2 b Appleton; William Wells father widower 68 tanner's labourer b Hants.[2]
In the 1881 census he was living at 237 Knutsford Rd, Latchford, Cheshire. - Henry Wells head marr 33 tailor b London Middx; Ellen Wells wife 29 b Latchford; William H Wells son 12 errand boy b Latchford; Mary J Wells dau 5 scholar b Manchester; Sarah E Wells dau 1 mth b Latchford; William Wells father widower 78 annuitant b Beaulie. His father died age 34 in the Mar quarter 1882 at Latchford, Cheshire. [4]
